Possible GPU or CPU damage as a result of a glitch

I cant finish my windows installation on My sony vaio laptop for some reason, I never reach the point where I need to choose my computer name and settings. because before that I recieve a message stating "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter and unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed."

and before it reaches that error screen I notice weird glitches on the computer screen. Is it possbile that my CPU is damage?

    We need more information please.

Posting your system specs would help as would knowing why you are re-installing Windows i.e. did something specific happen that made you decide a fresh install would fix whatever problem it was.

You could have a faulty hard drive or a problem with your power supply.

Just a thought, are you connected to mains electricity while you're installing or are you just using the battery? If the battery is low on power that won't help.

yes there was a problems but I didn't think it mattered anymore. Previously what happen was My laptop frozed, from multitasking (I was converting a movie into dvd and watching youtube videos). It frozed so i restarted the laptop, next thing you know, my explorer.exe started to crash every 4 to 5 mins. I was only able to login into the kernel for 4 to 5 mins untill it crashed. I tried all possibilities into fixing the explorer.exe crash but nothing help, so i decided to reboot it, and that's when it comes to the problem that I have now.

Now, every time i boot it up, it stays in the phase where the screen shows up saying, windows is starting up services, and after that I receive the error message "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter and unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed."

The thing is that a few weird glitches shows up on the, "windows is starting up services" screen, and then it goes away. (that led me to think that its the CPU that got damaged or something, after my laptop frozed from the multitasking? I mean anything could happen, or in this case, is it a no?

and it's not the hard drive (its new) and not the memory (I tested it),

and also my laptop is connected to the wall

    thanks for helps

In the light of any other suggestions you might want to consider contacting Sony to see if they have any ideas, but going on what you say it could well be a CPU problem.

Did you run the hardware diagnostics tool from the link that theog gave you?

Have you given any further thought to contacting Sony to see if they can effect a repair while your Vaio is under warranty?
