Progs will not install after reloading Win 7.

Had a major crash so bit the bullet and went for a fresh re-install of Win & Home 64 bit. Now it will only let me reinstall a few progs previously downloaded. It comes up with a message that says:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check to see wethere you need a 32 or 64 bit prog and contact the software publisher.

These progs all downloaded and installed before. Any ideas? I have switched off UAC to no avail. It also seems to install freshly downloaded files.

32 bit programs should install and run fine in 64 bit windows. What exactly are these apps that you're trying to install?

OK on checking the files are corrupted in some way. Fortunately I have checked the backups on another HDD and these seem OK.
