Make system to dual-boot when installing XP after Windows 7 present

    Hi,

Download this tool BCD Editor - Windows 7 / Vista.
It has a Dual-boot Repair utility. Start it and click on "Automatic Repair". Confirm.
This will make your system boot by default to Windows 7.

When booted in Windows 7 run Visual BCD Editor. Right click in the tree view and select "Create missing Windows loaders". Confirm.
This will create a boot loader entry for XP in the boot-menu and you will have the dual-boot choice between XP and Windows 7 on startup.

First try Method Two Steps 7-12 here to see if you can add Win7 from XP: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

If not you'll need to start Win7, then install EasyBCD 2.02 above to Add XP.

To start Win7 mark it Active then boot the DVD Repair console or System Repair Disc - Create
to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Time.

Install EasyBCD 2.02, from Add OS Entry tab add XP by name, let it autocomplete, accept offered boot files, reboot to Dual Boot menu.

some months ago i have xp sp2 and 7 dual boot. I upgrade from xp sp2 to xp sp3 after that i fall in the same condition as you are.there were no option for windows 7 it boots directly to windows xp. I make a startup repair using my Windows 7 DVD and my problem solved so you should also try this.
If you don't know how to make startup repair or you didn't have windows 7 DVD then EasyBCD is also a good option.
