win xp x64 dual boot on win 7

Hey there,
I have a toshiba qosmio 505-884 came with windows 7 x64 home preme and I wanted to re-install my copy of win xp x64 with a dual boot.

I had an extra flash USB drive laying around so I used wintoflash to install windows xp onto the usb, booted from the usb after a fresh reset - boot menu popped up, selected to install win xp > loaded drivers and such > only HDD to select was on the USB couldn't select my formatted/partioned on my normal HDD that is on the laptop.

Am I overlooking something? I have EasyBCD all set up and ready to go after I boot into windows, I also used the nLink on the CD so that I could use my SATA HDD...

Thanks for the help in advance,

Ki.

p.s I had a windows xp running on my dual boot and ran EasyBCD and created a bootmbr and then my xp wouldn't boot at all so I formatted the partion (15gb) and was hoping to re-do that, but can't seem to get past Windows setup only seeing USB.

First check for all the Win XP drivers for your hardware on the manufacturer's web site.

If your Win XP CD, does not support your Sata Controller, you will need to load drivers to uses at F6.
Load Sata Controller drivers with a floppy disk is the best way.

OR
SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

NOTE: Do not use a USB Pendrive to install Win XP, it is a very, very, very hit & miss way.

Well I do not have a flobby drive as I have a laptop. Also with the SATA HDD links, I already have done it with nLink, slipstreaming the SATA HDD

I'm just wondering why my installer only sees USB drive and not my HDD with the formatted Partition on it. (it was a RAW, now its NTFS)

1) Install with no USB drives pluged in.

2) If you have slipstreaming the SATA HDD drivers they are not needed, SATA Controller drivers are needed.

Did you slipstream the SATA Controller drivers, & not the SATA HDD drivers?

How would I make sure that I am indeed using the SATA controller Drivers and not the HDD Drives? When the Xp setup is loading (text) do I push f6? and go from there?

What drivers did you slipstream or on floppy?

I'm not sure, I made a back up .iso of my win xp, than I lost the CD. That's why I'm not using a floppy/cd. I will however, burn the CD again if that would solve the problem. Just wanted to see if I can use the USB to install.
