No device driver on window 7 installation

Hi,

I don't know the terminologies so I may not convey my problem as best as possible. So please bear with me, I will try my best to clarify.

My situation is as follows:

I purchased a HP laptop that has window 7 home premium OA edition pre installed. I decided to shrink my primary partition and install ubuntu on it.

However after ubuntu finish installing. I get a boot error and it leads me to the use the recovery tool. At that point, I am prompt to put in a win 7 cd.

I do just that but there is no response. I also tried to go into the window 7 installation screen but it cannot find any drives.

On the linux live cd however, I am able to see all my partitions on the install screen.

I suspect that I might have installed ubuntu on some important factory config files. Is there anything I can do?

Do you make your HP Recovery Disks?

Boot up using the Startup disk CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.
Make sure no USB drives are plugged.

Do a Strartup Repair:
Startup Repair
Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.
Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

If you have not made your Startup Repair
System Repair Disc - Create
Do you have a mate with Windows 7 & CD/DVD RW Drive, how could burn one off.

But you may need to do a reinstall.

Make sure Win7 or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) is marked Active before running the Startup Repairs: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

You can use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to mark Active, then click on Win7 HD to highlight it, from Disk tab choose Rebuild MBR which might preclude having to do the Startup Repairs.

But GRUB on the same HD can corrupt Win7 beyond repair.

If so you can copy out your files using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then boot Recovery Disks to recover to Factory Condition, or Win7 DVD for your version to clean reinstall with the Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7
