    Install on new build

Building a new computer the disk I ordered doesn’t not have sp1 . I have a disk of sp1 that I got from Microsoft when Sp1 came out .Should I install sp1 after install of windows 7 before running windows update?

The best would be to install all recommended updates (including SP1). In the case that your internet is damn slow, you can use SP1 disk right after installation if you want to and it is really from microsoft. If you are unable to do something, you will be prompted before the install.

    Hello there.
You could do it either way, from the SP1 disk or through Windows Update, it makes no difference - it's still the same service pack. It would be easier though to update everything through Win update.

Ok thanks I will go to updates first just thought it would save time if sp1 disk already had the updates .I did not know if you needed other updates before sp1 install. Thanks again

    1) Install Windows 7.

    2) Install Drivers, than check for update drivers for the OEM manufacturer's website

    3) Install SP1 from disk.

    4) Check for Windows 7 updates.
