Upgrade from XP to Windows 7 on new computer

I know that I can upgrade from XP to Windows 7 in the same computer, problem is that my computer is too old and does not have what it takes to handle Windows 7.

Can I install my XP in a new computer and then upgrade to Windows 7?

i would definitely recommend doing a clean fresh install on the new machine when you get it, especially if you're making such a big jump from xp to 7.

There is no direct upgrade path from XP to Win7. If you want to do it you have to upgrade from XP to Vista and then from Vista to Win7.

Wrong. You do not have to go through the dual upgrade process.

@Luis - you're better off buying a new computer with W7 already on it in October - or else buying one with Vista now and upgrading it with the free upgrade being offered by OEMs already.
