I'm getting blue screen of death, at different times its said 0000003B, 000000A,000000E, amdsata.sys and storport.sys.
I've been having problems with said computer since day one of purchase, technically I should have returned it. Seach files doesn't work, Ati catalyst controller doesn't work, boot.ini missing. Have done spybot, malawarebytes, repair from safe mode with it saying nothing is wrong.
If it allows me on normal mode its for about 10 secs, then blue screen, also sometimes in safemode it goes to blue screen or freezes.
Won't let check file dump, sfc/scannow, check disc.
I'm doing upgrade install from windows install disc and it asks for user name and password. When I put my user name and no password because I never added one to my computer, it states "the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" I am not on a domain.
I'm unable to do anything with the gateway computer I'm trying to fix and am using my old computer to check online for solution.

If you are within a year of purchase i would RMA the machine to Gateway after first using your free tech support.

An Installation DVD never asks for login so you must be trying this with the Repair CD. Where did you get the Installation DVD? Is it a Gateway branded Recovery Disk, or does it say Win7 Installation Media on it?

I really don't want to do a clean install or send it back to gateway as I have things that I really don't want to lose.
I get to the end of step 10 Repair Install and then it asks for user name and password.

I have never heard of Repair Install asking for password, unless of course you have a password set up to sign into Win7 normally.

I have the same problem running a clean install, and cannot find a solution, it says "the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" when i enter a username and password even though i never set one up during the earlier stages of installation. Did anyone find a fix?? I would love some help here.

Did let the install go to sleep? If YES, do a reinstall.

Where did you get Win7? What version exactly?
