    problem installing from flash drive

i have a very long story but i will try to keep it short. if you need more information to help me let me know.

so in short. i just put a new hard drive in. set my bios up to boot from usb flash drive first, then cd rom. well i had both the cd and the flash drive in, i'm not sure which one it started installing from, but i got a message that said "restart the computer. take the cd out. when it asks, put it back in" well i did that, but only put the flash drive back in.

It tells me to insert and hit any key, i do and i get DISK BOOT FAILURE.

so i came on here and found this thread.

Install Windows 7 from USB Pen Drive Using Grub4Dos

i did this and am having the same issues. now a few things

-i already had the windows files on my flash drive before i installed multiboot. does it have to be empty when i install multiboot and change the script? or does that not matter?
-ive done this once before and i could have sworn i had to format the flash drive before i did any of this. could that be my problem?

anyways. if you have any ideas please let me know. i've been trying to fix this computer for two days and im losing it.

Well there seems to be confusion here between the cd and the usb. Stick to one. If you want to use usb, use this tut and make sure you remove any disks from the optical drive before you start the install.

after i posted that i started the process so wish me luck. the only difference is the other tutorial i was looking at told me to use "clean" and not "clean all" so i hope it still works.

Easiest method by far is to write ISO to stick using Universal USB Installer
with Win7 in dropdown menu. Format first.

Boot the stick and follow these steps: Clean Install Windows 7
