    Unable to install Win 7

Hi! I'm having the next problem, and hope somebody could help me please...

My laptop is a Dell inspiron 1545, not actually sure about other stuff of hardware.
Sofware Windows 7 Home Basic with original dell Recover Cd.

Two months ago, I was working in some homework when it freezes at all, and stays that way for about 10 minutes, so I force the shut down. When I restarted, It ask for a Start Repair, so I do, but It was unable to Repair... I mean, it was actually unable to enter to the repair options neither from the Repair CD... just freezes at the Win background image and no options shown... I wasn't sure what to do because I wasn't even able to format from the CD, I tried Live Cd's, but was the same problem, Win just didn't charge, so I download Ubuntu and decided to installed it over Windows after backing up all my files... then I run the Win Recover CD and reinstall Win 7... It was ok until yesterday, when the exact same problem began! The computer freezes, I force the shot down again (after nearly 5 hours, because I was afraid the same problem to happen and didn't want to format again and reinstall all my programs)... finally I've got the same exact problem, so I back up my new files and very unhappy try the past solution, only this time I wasn't able to Reinstall Win 7, even I format all partitions... I have being trying like 100 times and it always the same: the laptop freezes during installation (while compleating installation) and it's unable to do anything else, but reinstall Ubuntu... I'm totally desperate 'cause I really love Win and want it back, but don't really know how to... please somebody help me...

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Details for a Dell Inspiron 1545 factory recovery here: How To Restore or Reinstall Microsoft Windows on a Dell Computer | Dell

Providing you haven't deleted the recovery partition on your hard drive you should use Step 2: PC Restore.

If you have deleted the recovery partition on your hard drive you should use Step 3: Manual Reinstallation.

If you haven't made a set of recovery discs you can order a set from Dell, failing that, if you know someone whose got a Windows 7 disc you can use that to reinstall Windows using the Product Key attached to your computer.

Hello HazardGrl, welcome to Seven Forums!

If the lappy is less than 1 year old I'm sure it is still under warranty and could be returned to the original seller for repair / replacement, have you contacted them concerning this issue?

To be thorough you should test your hardware with these bootable CD tests which will autostart:

RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes or overnight
HD Diagnostic boot to run extended test.
Also run Disk Check from DVD/Repair CD Command Line.

Make a Win7 Repair CD to boot to run Repairs: System Repair Disc - Create
Follow these steps to boot the CD How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD - Boot to CD, or tap the Dell F12 key at boot to get a one-time BIOS Boot Menu.

Run Startup Repair from the Repair CD several times to check for problems. It should automate System File Checker but run it separately anyway from the CD Command line: SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot

When you ran Factory Recovery it should have reinstated the Dell Recovery Partition even if you formatted all partitions. So try Factory Recovery from partition first as it is more stable and doesn't require booting disk, just tapping the F8 key at bootup: Dell Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings

If the Factory Recovery link is missing from F8 menu as shown in tutorial, try restoring it using this method: Dell Recovery Partition - restoring F8 link

After running factory Recovery monitor the logs closely for clues to the problem before it arises again, use the System Resources working through these steps as needed: Troubleshooting Win7

You should start your own thread, telling us exactly what`s happening and please give us the manufacturer and exact model of the pc. :)
