    Deleted partitions W7 tablet.


    Hello,
    I've read loads of forums regarding rebooting/re-installing W7 but I still can't get anywhere.

    I have a Windows 7 tablet 16gb IDE which worked fine but it was in Chinese language. I couldn't change the original installation as it was done in China. So I deleted the partitions with the intentions of installing W7 in English.
    I deleted the C: drive (where the O/S was installed) with some third party software and now i'm well and truly stuck. I've changed the bios to boot from CD but I get the message operating system could not be found. I've tried it through a micro SD card, Windows 7 disc, windows xp disc, but no joy. Sometimes I just get the flashing white cursor in the top left corner but nothing else.

    Is there some sort of boot disc (like win98 installation?) I built EPOS systems when I was younger but everything I knew I've tried and it doesn't work.

    I have access to a win 7 laptop and a vista pc if this helps?

    Please help as Im pulling my hair out here. Surely there is a simpler way?
    I've tried the F8 method but that option isn't available.

    Have tried the one time boot menu to boot from DVD?
    may be F12.

    The F8 option won't be available because you don't have the boot record on a separate 100 Mb partition.

    Use this tutorial to create a repair disc you can boot into and access the Windows Recovery Environment.

    Hello bigbills, welcome to Seven Forums!


    If there's anything you need to recover from the Hard Disk Drive have a look at the information in this tutorial linked below on how best to copy out that data to external media.
    If not I suggest you run the clean command to over-write the Hard Disk Drive MBR and start the installation again from scratch and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

       Information

    1) To rule out HDD Master Boot Record format errors, boot the Windows 7 installation media to diskpart and run the clean command, it takes only seconds to complete; once the clean finishes, exit diskpart and use the Windows 7 installer to create and format a single 100GB partition for the installation.

    If that doesn't work, after another clean, use diskpart to create, format and mark Active a single 100GB partition to see if that works, use Step Two #2 in the SSD/HDD tutorial for reference.

    You can always extend the Windows partition to include the remaining unallocated space on the HDD / SSD or create additional Primary partitions or an Extended partition after the installation completes if you choose.

    2) If you have ever had Linux installed to the HDD in any way, a simple clean command will not over-write the Grub boot-loader, you must use the full clean all command to completely over-write the Grub loader so Windows will install.

    If I'm reading you correctly you have deleted Win7 Chinese and are trying to boot the Installation DVD for Win7 English to install.

    If it's not booting, make sure you are setting DVD drive to boot first in BIO setup: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

    Or use the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key to trigger DVD drive at boot: Asus - F8
    HP/Compaq - Esc
    Sony - F2
    Acer - F12
    Gateway - F10
    eMachnes - F10
    Toshiba - F12
    Dell - F12
    IBM/Lenovo - the blue Thinkvantage button

    Are you getting the prompt then to "Press any key to boot DVD?" If not where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? Confirm ISO integrity and burn another DVD using ImgBUrn at 4x speed with Verify.

    You can also try writing the DVD or its ISO to bootable flash stick. Install UltraISO trial version, on File tab select Open DVD or ISO, on BOotable Tab, select Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB, REmovable, or HD's.

    If you still cannot boot, then burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD, it will autostart on its own, choose Disk tab to Wipe the HD. This will force installer to itself autostart.

    Hey,
    Thanks for all of your suggestions. I followed all the 'standard' procedure to get it to boot and after about the 80th time it worked just like magic. Very strange. Maybe the CD/DVD reader wasn't reading the disk properly?

    Now what I want to do is remove the (chinese) windows 7 ultimate and replace it with English W7 basic as I only have a 16GB HDD.
