The problem is I am 68yrs young have been about pc's since my first IBM Sirius with it's two five and a quarter inch floppy disk. I can build pc's as I built the one I am using but it is not a play thing. I run the business accounts, banking and many other facets from this pc, but I am not a software expert. So before pressing buttons I like to know I am pressing the right ones.

I have found the info to date very helpful but it has to be easy to follow hence the questions.

Sorry mate, some of the newer, more aggressive among us are hard to deal with, if you need specific help, PM me and I'll help you, though I don't usually help through PM.

What's the reason you are trying to dual boot the same OS?

I was running win 7 32bit, I do a fair bit of video work and found the final processing with 2gb ram very slow. As my mother board would take 8gb ram I decided to upgrade and this needed 64bit O/S.

I did all the upgrade fairly smoothly but one program I work with quite a lot will not run on the 64bit system.

I tried the virtual pc route but it would not work.

That leaves me two options, one create a partition on my c: drive and install there or two install on e:.

I tried to install on e: but as it is an ex boot drive from an Acer pc it would not accept the o/s key as it did not match the Acer code imprinted on the drive.

So I am trying to find out how to completely wipe that drive and make a fresh start, rather than ditch it and install a new one.
