boot manager timeout

hi

i recently installed windows 7 home premium 32bit on my acer aspire one aoa150 and it was working fine until i decided to change the boot manager timeout to 0 seconds so that it would load staight into windows 7 without me having to choose.

This is because every time i would start up the computer it would go to the boot manager screen giving me a choice of either an earlier version of windows, windows 7 or windows xp setup.

However it seems the default OS was set to windows xp setup and now the boot manager flashes on the screen and goes by too quick for me to choose anything and automatically loads windows xp setup and i cant into windows 7 any more. Anyone know how I can fix this.

Can you Try to get in to safe mode.

You can try change the timeout in the boot.ini via msconfig.

Alternatively, you can boot from a win7 system repair disk and run a bcdedit command in regedit to change the default OS or the timeout.

yes i've tried getting into safe mode but i cant.

i don't have windows xp anymore. when it boots it goes to the windows xp setup screen and since i dont have any setup disks i can only quit which restarts my computer and does the same thing all over again.

i also dont have any windows 7 system repair disks and wouldnt be able to use them anyway as my netbook doesnt have a cd or dvd drive.

is there any other way i can change the boot manager timeout??

Well, you can make a system repair flash drive. First download the repair disk iso from this site.

Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc — MAXIMUMpcguides – Windows 7 tips, tricks, help, and how-to guides

( be careful you download the correct bit).

Then create a bootable flash drive using this iso and Method 2 in this tutorial.

Now, set the computer to boot from the usb drive first, plug in the flash drive and boot from it. Now, you can try running the bcd commands I linked in my earlier post. You can also try a startup repair.

If you reboot and tap the F8 key repeatedly do you have Repair My Computer on Advanced Boot Options menu?

If so, select it and run Startup Repair.

If not, try Last Known Good Config.

Otherwise you'll have to write Repair CD ISO to flash stick to boot to run Startup Repair.
