Easy Way to configure a new account.

I can't find the simple way to do the following:
Setup a standard account then easily
1) Allow access to the internet only when an Admin password is entered.
2) Access to any level command prompt only when an Admin password is entered.
3) Allow access to specific programs only, without jumping through hoops.
eg. Office suite, Foxit,..

Parental guidance settings don't seem to do this easily.

Hi

This isn't something that I have a large amount of knowledge about but I think the only option is configuring UAC - see this link to Technet

Thanks for that.
I thought it may be something trivial that I overlooked. Maybe not.
Scenario: give someone a user account and say you can only use "Office"

That scenario can be met with Parental Controls, using the Applications Restrictions option.

Hi mjf,

This is the tutorial for Parental Controls - I agree, everything you want should? be able to be done through PC:

Parental Controls - Setup and Use

Quote:
When Parental Controls blocks access to a game or program, a notification is displayed that the program has been blocked. Your child or Standard user can click a link in the notification to request permission for access to that game or program. You can allow access by entering your account user name and password information.

Thanks.
First thing I tried was parental controls with the option for me to choose the programs. Unfortunately for some applications it isn't a simple one click enable option.
eg. I wanted to enable a program called Sibelius but it needs other elements to run. There seem to be interdependent issues and the program crashes.

I'll try it again - it has to be simple.

Can an Easy Transfer archive be used/read without using Easy Transfer?
This sounds like a dumb question, but here's the background. My daughter's XP laptop crashed (trashed hard disk that I doubt we can rescue much data from) and so we got her a Windows 7 computer. Unless we can rescue much of the old data from crashed XP, she's pretty much starting off empty. ...
