Windows 7: Transfer of a HDD w/ win7 to new computer!

Yeah it looks like that because the motherboard failed and is being replaced that they should replace the reg code with a new one (or allow re-activation of the old one). Will certainly take a phone call.

But this was really a two part post. There is the problem of getting the drive up and running on the new MB at all, then there is the reactivation that will need to be done.

Looks like #2 is probably taken care of.

As for #1. I've personally be able to do this by booting into safe mode on the new machine with a transfered drive, letting the hardware manager sort itself out, then boot up normally. But this may be a rare thing, it has failed for others.

Is it possible to put the old HD in the new computer, then boot off the OEM disk and do a repair install right off the bat???

Repair Install must be done from the desktop unfortunately.

Too late to SysPrep on old hardware, so only known method besides luck is Paragon Adaptive Restore CD booted and pointed at HD to remove all drivers and SID>

Bit of a silly question I suppose, but... I'm moving from my old system which I'd upgraded to Win7 (32 bit) in October, to a new 64 bit system (both Home Premium) To transfer, I obviously use the 32 bit Easy Transfer application out of the old system, correct? Thanks.
