Assuming the Netbook is out of warrant, Darryl's suggestion regarding the HDD is worth trying.
Are you going to order Acer recovery disks?
actually it was about two hours, and the little light green spark that runs through the green progress bar stopped once it tryed to install factory mode. also the hdd indicator doesn't flash as often when installing factory mode, it flashes like every 10-20 mins maybe

The HD Diagnostics test is also a Repair which can return HD to service in conjunction with Disk Check clearing file system errors.

MucAfee is cause of so many random problems seen here that I would not be surprised if it is blocking running Factory Recovery, so either try running it from Disk or find the Win7 Installation DVD to get rid of all the bloatware and have a clean Win7 install. Steps in Perfect Reinstall link in my siggy below.
acutally i did another restore after the hdd test, and failed again, well not failed but again, refused to install factory mode. also i don't have a disc drive, since this is a netbook. my processor is running at 1.50ghz

Can you find a Win7 installation DVD to write to flash stick, boot it and clean reinstall Win7?

Steps to get a perfect reinstall are in my signature box below, including the app to write Win7 ISO file to stick.

Unless McAfee itself is genuine malware, which it clearly isn't, I don't see how this is technically possible especially when run from alt F10 at boot.
BTW I don't like or use McAfee.

Someone whose been around the traps awhile is passionate about your need to replace your HDD. I'd be listening - the last thing is to get things set up on a dud drive. They don't cost much.
