When you have your new HD Drive, use your Acer Recovery Disks to reinstall Windows 7.

I have mcafee security on here can that be whats causing my issues?
You need to make sure your hdd is still good. Otherwise any other efforts will be moot.
Once you are running the factory restore you are rebuilding your system and the old McAfee will be a dead duck. But you'll have a nice new trial version to get rid of!
I notice you didn't take the simple suggestion to simply let the factory restore run longer.
If you need to factory restore from DVDs I don't think the netbooks have DVD drives - you'll need to get hold of a portable one.
