    When you have your new HD Drive, use your Acer Recovery Disks to reinstall Windows 7.

    I did not purchase a new hd drive. I am still trying to recover the current one I am having problems with as this is a new computer. right now I am installing service pack 1 for windows 7

    You need to make sure your hdd is still good. Otherwise any other efforts will be moot.

    everything else is indicating my hd is still healthy, the only thing the restoration doesn't want to install is the sysprep factory mode

    Once you are running the factory restore you are rebuilding your system and the old McAfee will be a dead duck. But you'll have a nice new trial version to get rid of!

    I notice you didn't take the simple suggestion to simply let the factory restore run longer.

    If you need to factory restore from DVDs I don't think the netbooks have DVD drives - you'll need to get hold of a portable one.

    Yes!

    It is the absolute worst AV crapware we see here. Uninstall it using Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode.

    Actually I would find a Win7 installation DVD to clean reinstall based on MucAfee´s presence alone.
