Windows 7 Install Menu Won't Appear

Basically I'm trying to do an install on a partition.
    1. I tried using a DVD to install Windows 7 and it would go through "Windows is Loading Files" and then the "Starting Windows" icon appears.

    2. After that the install menu is suppose to show, instead the background appears along with the mouse but the menu doesn't.

    3. I thought maybe it was a problem with the file or disc. So I tried using another file of Windows 7, and I tried using another disc but still stuck at the same spot.

    4. Next I tried to install off a flash drive and still same thing happens, the install menu won't appear.

I'm not sure if it's called install menu but basically it's the screen where you select "install now"

I've done many clean installs before but I've never seen this happen and I am totally stumped on why this is.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Eric

    hello Eric ,
it may help if you fill in your system specs. also dose your mouse more at all?
if so did you give it a little time to see if maybe it's trying to load something?

Is this a DVD you burned using ImgBurn at 4x speed after verifying the ISO? Where did you get Win7?

Are you booting the DVD to install. Follow the steps in Perfect Reinstall link in my signature below.

Try wiping the HD. Test the HD. HD Diagnostic

Get yourself a cup of coffee or a good beer and read first this thread and then this thread. They develop into a long discussion of how to solve a problem very similar to yours. This group of folks led me to a solution and if you stick with it they'll help you too.

I will work on providing the system specs, I do not have daily access to the computer. I believe the mouse does work. The thing is, I've waited around 5-10min for the install menu show when booting of the DVD but I hear the disc stop whirring after awhile so I assume that it's not loading. What I do know about the system is...
-Original OS it has on 1st partition is Windows XP
    -2GB of RAM
-Can't remember the hardware models but this is a custom built desktop, does that have anything to do with it?

When I tried using the DVD, the DVD was burned using ImgBurn but not at 4x speed, but at the recommended speed instead. However, the disc worked perfectly for another install on another computer so the ISO and disc isn't the problem. I don't believe there was a problem in me formatting the hard drive partition into a NTSF type.

    Eric,
Hope you get more regular to your computer which has the problem.

If the computer is not yours, then you might want to suggest to the owner that he/she post here.

    In any case, this will help to complete those system specs;
    Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
    (left-hand column)

To gather info, use SIW or Speccy or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
    “system manufacturer” block, for example,
    Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
