The third best is to use two separate Hard Disk Drives, running Linux with Wondows on one Hd drive will not mix well.
OK so doing a dual boot wont disregard my cache which is important for low latency recording/editing

I'm not sure I fully understand your issue here (ie. my lack of understanding).
You can BIOS boot the two HDD. Booting this way I think is safer and no different to booting that disk as if it was the only disk present. You can access the other disk(s) once booted.
