    Hi Gareth,

    I figured it out.

On the drive we added your username and that made all the folders have your username and that is what we wanted, so your access problem is solved.

The locks are there because the previous owner was "everyone" an account with diminished rights.

the only thing left to do is rightclick your d drive again and add the everyone account again. Make sure you don't any extra rights to it but the defaults it sets itself.

After adding it, click ok, and wait until the process finishes.

    Now the lock are gone.

Oh, and after that, go to the security tab of you d drive again, go to advanced,

and take ownership with the yourname account, and make sure you check the box that applies it to subfolders and objects.

    That's it.

What's the current state of your folder and subfolders? Can you access them? Is the problem that they just still have the padlock icons?

Yes, I believe so, and I posted two posts above here to help him through this last bit, but he's again not responding.

Sorry again, I didn't really have time today to answer back, sorry and thank you guys, I can access them now, firstly I couldn't edit or play them but now when I did the step you given, I have all full rights now, however, the padlock still remains there, even though I can get full access. Someone mentioned about it's because I was/ was sharing that folder, do you think that's right?

Thanks guys for your help, I really appreciate it.

    You're forgiven.

Follow this post I posted. It's the last step.

Before you do that, go to the music library and remove the D:\music location.

After the last step you can add the location in the library again.

    Hi Gareth,

    I'm all out of options.

I have done the things you did on one of my computers just to recreate the situation, and it worked.

Don't know why it's not working in your case.

Good thing though is that you do have full access now to all the folders.

Hope anyone here has a clue how to get rid of the locks.

    Good luck

What you need to do is give Authenticated Users permissions to My Music then propagate the permissions down to the sub folders and files as follows. You can replace what permissions you like in screenshot 5 or leave it as full Control. That should sort it. Ok out of the last 2 windows not shown.
