Two brand new hard drives that get I/O errors sounds unlikely. The only other thing working (aside from mouse, keyboard, and monitor) is there any way that this is my DVD drive crashing on me as well?

If new ISO doesn't help, Try flash stick install using tool linked above to eliminate DVD drive.

If it fails then physically unplug the DVD drive and try again, which sometimes helps for some reason.

Ok, I'll try the USB again with the newer ISO file. I did get to 73% with the USB boot before it stopped. All boots with DVD haven't managed to get past 25% while expanding files. Is ImgBurn the best program for accurately getting every file burned? As I understand it that is a very important factor in installation hang ups. Is Windows 7 USB/DVD the best program to make a flash drive bootable?

Again, thanks for all the help. I'm in classes in college for computer hard/software maint and will be taking A+ in December, so this problem is actually a perfect learning tool for me. Even though I'm pulling my hair out right now.

ImgBurn is most reliable although using the Digital River downloads should allow you to use the MS tool which is probably best but finicky about ISO. It gives you choice of DVD or flash. Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool

Otherwise this tool for flash: Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3

Tried everything else and it still isn't working. USB wont boot past the blue screen now and DVD gets to expanding windows files and stops at 0%..... I'm beginning to lose hope here. I've tried every suggestion I could find and it still will not work...

Latest error code : 0x8007048f

Confirm you are using the Digital River ISO download, burned to DVD and written to flash stick using the MS tool.

Next reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup, set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

Also make sure the HD registers correctly in BIOS setup, and DVD or flash is set first to boot, followed by HD, any floppy removed from wherever it appears in BIOS and physically unplugged.

Remove all but 2gb RAM to try install, swap RAM sticks, test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Fill in your System Specs in bottom left of post. Report back results to each step.

Did you confirm your motherboard is good ?

Sounds like the only commonalities are mobo/ps...

Did you take the original drive out and test it with a hard drive specific program, or at least do a chkdsk on the original drive you supposed was bad ?

Sounds a bit like you're chasing the wrong end of this problem, I think you've got hardware issues you need to identify before you try to install an OS....

Yes we are moving in that direction but he has a backlog of steps to complete first, one of which is testing RAM.

Add to those the HD Diagnostic list to choose your maker from, burn ISO to CD to run extended test along with Disk Check

We are going in circles with this. Lets start from the first step.
Clean Install Windows 7
If this doesn't work tell us what happened. Windows 7 installs very easy if the hardware is working properly. Have everything unhooked from your computer except the drive you want to install Windows on and the DVD player you need.

AMD Athlon II X4 630 / 2.8 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9100
6gb ddr3 ram up to 18gb
PEGATRON CORPORATION VIOLET6 Bios v 5.13
SSD Intel x-25m 80gb
HDD WD Cavier Blue 320gb

I ran diagnostics tools and everything passed. I ran a smart support check on the SSD and everything passed with no errors. When installing I have only the USB and SSD plugged in aside from mouse keyboard monitor. DVD drive is unplugged and cdrom is disabled in bios. I also disabled floppy (instead of not installed?) The SSD is plugged in as the first sata drive. I then have the USB set as the first to boot in HDD group boot with the SSD second. 2gb of memory is in slot 4 (I've tried in other slots too). Sata controller is enabled and controller mode is AHCI. Start the install and it copies files once again but doesnt move past 5% expanding files and stalls again. Error Code : 0x80070002

After this happens I go to diskpart just to check and once again the Hard drive is missing after the failed install. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for the computer to recognize it again then I can go back in and clean it...
