Install 7 on a new PC with Home Premium installed

My old PC died, it had 7pro on it and I have the installation disk for 7pro. The new PC has Win7 Home premium and it is 64 bit. My old one was 32 bit. How do I go about upgrading the new one to Pro and as 32 bit system?

You cant upgrade, you have to do a clean install when going 64>32, or 32>64. Iy ou have 64bit now you are better off with it (with sufficient ram) than the 32 bit pro.

What kind of pro disk is this? Retail or oem restore? 32 bit or 64 bit? If this is a 64 bit retail disk, you'll need to locate a 32 bit pro disk to install on the new machine. But you can use the old key since the old pc's died irrespective of 32 bit/ 64 bit. Also, if you have 4 gigs or more ram, install 64 bit to make full use of it.

Are you sure you need the few extra features Pro offers as most users don't: Compare Windows - Microsoft Windows

If so use Anytime Upgrade which unlocks those features in minutes. Save the Pro disk for repairs and reinstalls: Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade
