Install Windows 7 Enterprise on Netbook Replacing Windows 7 Starter

Hi, Everyone this is my 1st post, I had been reading Sevenforums before i actually join it. Eversince then i got most of my doubt solve.

I just bought a Sony Vaio Y series come with Windows 7 Starter.

I got a bad deal form Malaysia giving windows 7 stater and 320gb hd, whereas S'pore giving Windows 7 home premiun and 500hd. Anyway i like the design and portability of this model.

I got a Year Warranty, But i'm wanted to upgrade it to Windows 7 Ent. and also wanted to upgrade my ram to 4GB max. my existing one is 2GB. but i afraid this would void the warranty.

Let get my question i wanted to update to Windows 7 Ent with out and not keeping my starter. but i afraid of driver issue, i plan to boot by USB setup.

Any advice?

Yeah -- warranty advice can only properly come from the warranty holder (despite what others here may tell you). So, you need to check with Sony support to see if performing such a Windows 7 upgrade will compromise your warranty in any way. My guess would be that it would not -- but (like everyone else posting here) -- that is only a guess.

Windows 7 Enterprise is not available to retail customers. Only to businesses with volume license plans. As a home user, you really have to choose between Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate.

Enterprise is for volume licensing schemes such as schools, busineses, organizations. Unless you are planning to use this with a Volumne License Key provided by such an organization you'll need to use a retail Windows 7 Upgrade.

Easiest is to use Anytime Upgrade by typing Anytime in Start search box, insert Product Key you've purchased and it unlocks the extra features in the higher version in a few minutes. Windows Anytime Upgrade - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Starter

Hi all, I got my Windows 7 Ent home desktop. Actually i have a license given to me by my friend working with Microsoft. I think the CD Key is still valid if i were to install it onto my Netbook. I knew about any time upgrade but there is no Windows 7 Ent option to choose from.

See above post. You likely should not have Enterprise unless you are part of an organization whose administrator is activating your install.
