Transfer programs and data to new computer? External Hardrive!
Hello,
Having never done it, I am attempting to help my friend. Has old laptop, been making system image backups with Macrium Free on external usb WD Hardrive. Now wishes to get new laptop and transfer pertinent data and programs to the new computer. I haven't a clue. He had not installed the HD programming, using macrium instead. Any assistance is appreciated!

Laplink has an application that they CLAIM will allow you to migrate apps to another PC. I think it's called PC Mover (or something like that). You would have to buy it -- and there's no guarantee that it will work.
Depends on how much money you want to spend to try it out, and how many hours you want to spend reinstalling ALL of your apps.
Howdy theog,
Looks good and simple, maybe he can handle it. He is 4 hours away and I'm not driving there and back just to do it for him. Thanks you Sir!

Hello Mark,
No, I don't think he could handle it and I as described won't be there to help. His best bet is to get a local tech. Thank you for your time and suggestion!
