Installation issues

Hi!

I'm having the same installation issue just like many others I found here on the sevenforums, and on the net. I think you're all tired of reading this problem over and over again, but here's the thing:
I want to make a clean install, I have XP right now. So, I put the win7 dvd in, and then the computer boots up. Everything seems fine, the installer copies the necessary files to begin the real install. The nice, blue wallpaper shows up, like the mouse pointer as well. Aaand, that's it. Nothing really happens, no HDD work, the dvd drive does nothing. At this point, I have to wait at least 20 minutes and the language selection screen shows up. After it I also have to wait a lot between every steps. When the real install finally begins the installer stucks at 0% for hours and so on, and nothing happens. I tried to re-put (I don't know if it's the right expression) the dvd, but still nothing.
The same goes to Windows Vista.
Other important facts:
The installer works flawless if I run it from XP, that's how I had installed succesfully the win7 beta earlier as a secondary OS (it's ok, I could upgrade my OS [I guess..], but as I said, I want a clean install).
I got this computer a half year ago and it works good. This is the only problem with it.
Of course I'm not posting without trying to find the solution, so here's the complete list I tried to make things work:
-updated BIOS
-disabled the legacy diskette
-checked all the cables in the computer and the memories as well
-updated the firmware of my dvd drive
-checked in the BIOS if my HDD was in AHCI mode, but It was already on SATA mode
-Ran a memtest86, everything's fine

That's all I guess. By the way, the dvds were burned at low speed (however I think that the DVD disks are good, they worked on my previous computer and on my neighbour's computer as well).
I don't know what other informations would be needed, but at last I'd share my exact computer specs.:
-Motherboard: Asus M2N68
-CPU: Athlon 64 X2 6000+
-VGA: ATi HD4670 512MB
-RAM: 2GB Kingston HyperX 1066Mhz (it runs at 800Mhz, I don't know how to set to 1066Mhz right)
-HDD: Western Digital (WD5000AAKS-22A7B0)

For first, I'll try some HDD diag/check tool to search for errors. Sadly, right now I'm not able to back up everything important before doing the thing you just adviced.
Of course, I'll also let you know If it helped or not, this might be useful for others too..

What was the resolution here? I am having the same issue, but I have let it sit at the nice blue background with the mouse for half an hour or more and not gotten to the installation window. It gets just past starting windows screen.

I have the following hardware:
-Western Digital 500gb sata
-ide dvd drive
-Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX motherboard
-xfx radeon 4870 (2 dvi outputs)
-AMD Athlon 2 X4 630
-2x2gb OCR 1066 ddr3 ram

All the hardware is new, besides the hard drive, which was working perfectly in an old system right before moving it to this new system. It has a couple partitions, I'm trying to install a fresh install (wipe a partition) of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I don't think it's the hard drive since it's not even getting to the first window when booting off the DVD. All I get is the screen where I can move around my mouse (pretty blue background).

I tried burning 2 win7 dvd's, one slow burned, and I have the same issue with both.

Both of the DVDs boot up and work correctly (and quickly I have an install window) on a different computer.

I don't have any other hardware installed, and I disconnected the front USB ports on my case from the usb header.

I tried disabling Cool and Quiet control in BIOS (per someone's suggestion) and that did not fix it.

Anyone have any ideas?

No, pulled out of computer working, with 2 partitions + free space. WinXP 32 bit on first partition. Goal is to format 1st partition and clean install Win7 64 bit.

The procedure and speed of burning the ISO to DVD has been the most frequent cause of installation failure

DigitalRiver download .iso and slow burn (4x)
The DVD has been checked and works fine on other computers.

• Any Over Clocking of the RAM, CPU or GPU?
No

Again, no additional connections, I am using a Microsoft wireless usb keyboard and mouse (3000 series?) which has worked fine as input in BIOS & post, and the mouse works fine when it gets to the stall point where the first install window fails to appear (right after Starting Windows screen).

Does anyone here think that creating a bootable USB disk would and/or could fix the issue?
