You might stick in the DVD and boot to DVD, after language and keyboard, click lower left side --> REPAIR follow prompts and see if that will fix the problem. | My System Specs

no, this is supposed to be the first time use, so its setting up my computer. when i boot in safe mode, its says installation cannot finish in safe mode. so i boot in "last known good configuration" and all seems to be going well, it shows the status bar at the bottom of the screen saying something like "configuring your settings" then after a few seconds it crashes. when i boot windows normally, i get the problem i addressed above. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS XP, Vista & Windows 7 CPU Pentium 4 HT 3.4 GHz Single Core Motherboard ASUS P5P800 SE Memory 1.5 GB DDR 333MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb AGP 8X Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster 24-Bit PCI & Onboard Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster & Gateway Keyboard Logitech Standard Mouse Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 PSU Rosewill 750 Watt Case Alienware Cooling 80mm Fans & Gigabyte Liquid Cooling Hard Drives 100gb SATA & 500gb SATA Internet Speed 30k dial up haha |

A possible work around is to install 7 with a different video card. Then from a working 7, you can download the latest driver for your ATI card and install the ATI card then? | My System Specs
