However I would not use preinstalled Norton's bloatware but instead use the free AV's recommended by all of us here: Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast 6. Are there any other programs that came with the Acer which make it worth running the inferior Factory Recovery? We can help you sort this.
They never sent me a CD.
I called MS support. I do find it odd though.
I called 4 times before, yet they kept telling me to go to acer, today I simply told them the same story. I then got transferred to 'ms support'. Spoke to a tech agent he then gave me his email address in order for me to send a snap shot of my FADED sticker .. From there he sent me an e-mail with a key. Now if this is my original key I'm not sure because it was a brief convo , but the activation says it successful .
Also why is it recommended to not use norton and i know how bad acer is lol but is Factory Recovery really not a good idea. Because even I now don't see the point of going in to eR, especially if it messes up my HD. I just want my LP back the way it is, so lame but I really just want to forget ever taking my laptop to rc! Also would like windows 7 the 1 I paid for! ..
For some reason it still don't feel like its been installed properly ...I don't trust rc one bit.
Again if there's anything I could do (within my reach of course lol) I would gladly be able to give back! I can do free designs for the forum or anything with graphics , lol this is a tech forum so I'm sure there's loads Graphic Designers on here anyway.

I also saw the page greg linked.. I know it must of taken effort to to such a detailed tutorial but I still dont understand it fully, i mean i get the gist but is it worth me cleaning it since i just got a new HD in. The lp just feels faulty ever since I bought it back from them..so. Im not sure if i should even pay them since installing a trial was really not the best options as tech experts they should of known and hold me liable(

If the clean reinstall was done by professionals and it has now activated I would leave it. This is always a superior install to Factory preinstalled Windows.

Are there performance problems at all? If so explain them fully.

Again, are you missing software that came with the PC that you need help finding to reinstall?

clean install is a HD replacement right? If so than yes this was done.
Im having problems with the LP itself, a few days ag o an error msg with about 50 boxes just kept on popping up 1 after the other. Now it seems to have gone. nothing odd in add/remove programs as its pretty much empty lol. When I search google whether its the address bar or side one I try and go on a page & I'm then redirected to BudgetMatch! OR shoppido.
I tried a week ago getting my key back by downloading various key finders from cnet.com recommendation. Since than its fair to say I think I have a virus. So I'll install one of the forum's suggestion, but if there's a thread on here explaining differences and what is recommended between eRecovary & clean install please re-direct .
im missing ms works, the free program which comes with windows 7. i prefer to microsft word.
PS. Im also missing my web cam,Ive searched properly from start menu and even typed various names it be under but since Ive had the trial Ive had none of W7 features.

Sounds initially like you're infected with Adware. Run Malwarebytes full scan now and repeat monthly.

Install MSE oR Avast6, run a full scan, keep it turned on with the Win7 firewall.

Has something crept into the Search Providers list which on IE9 is found by clicking on the Gear symbol on far right of Tab bar, selecting Internet Options, then the Search choice on first screen? If so, highlight all but Google and Remove them after making Google default.

Unfortunetly I would just like to add it turns out it isn't my key: -( I had my suspicions but didn't think it was possible. The ms support person gave me an OEM key and not the one I paid for. I have to ring acer even though I specifically told this guy they cant help. So anyway Ill try the cds and suggestions everyone was so helpful with, thank you!
