    BSOD during install on new computer 0x7e (Pro 64bit)

    Hi, I just built a new computer and am trying to install Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Whenever I get to the screen when the logo first appears (directly after it says "loading files"), it blue screens. I am trying to install it with the official CD that I got from my college, but I also tried installing it from a USB and got the same error. The USB was partitioned correctly and everything as well. Here is the full error code: *** STOP: 0x0000007e (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF8000D16656D, 0xFFFFF880039A06E8, 0xFFFFF8800399FF40). I have tried tweaking bios settings, removing/switching RAM, changing the hard drive SATA port, and everything else I can think of. What could be causing the problem? On a side note, it does not seem to load Ubuntu either, it just stays on the loading screen for over an hour before I turn it off. So if I can't even load it in safe mode to run mem test or hard drive tests, how will I know what's wrong? Any help is appreciated, thanks! Here's my specs:

    CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 PC12800
    Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
    GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6850
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 1tb
    PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro 850w

    We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

    You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

    To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
    *If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:

    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
    * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    Unfortunately I can't get the dmp file because I cannot even get the computer to boot into or install windows. I've never had anything installed on the computer before, as I just built it. I can't get to anything besides the bios.

    The error indicates a memory exception either from Ram, or a driver. I would start by pulling all the ram but one stick if you can.

    Also remove any USB devices possible, printer, scanner, flash drive, speakers, etc.

    Write the DVD or ISO to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in the dropdown menu. Boot under USB, Removable or HD's using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first screen.

    If this fails, try resetting the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

    While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI to try install. Unplug all other HD's.

    Next try wiping the HD: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

    If this fails test the RAM with memtest86 for 5-6 passes, remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install, swap RAM sticks around: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

    Report back what happens after each step.
