If you want to return to XP after you install Windows 7 (there is no upgrade from XP - it will require a format, so all of your XP data is lost), then you either wipe the partition and install XP from scratch, or you create an image of your current XP installation using your favorite image creation software, and then restore it if you don't like Windows 7.

hahaha..man read the question clearly..im asking whether i can get back to XP,not windows 7 as im already mentioning that IF im running windows 7 on my PC,is there any way to get back to windows XP with out disturbing the other partitions...im asking this because some people are saying that inorder to go back to XP,i need to format all drives...is it true??

If you want help then post a screenshot of your maximized XP DIsk Mgmt drive map using this method: Screenshot with Paint.

Attach file with paper clip in Reply box.

We will advise you on best way to install Win7 and then if necessary revert to XP, if you don't want to Dual Boot.

Then the answer is that if you don't want Win7, boot the XP CD to clean reinstall. You can delete all partitions if you've backed up your data unless there is a WIn7 Recovery partition that you can try running from boot, or use the disks if you made them.

Too bad you didn't cooperate as we would have helped you work out all of these details, even save a backup image of XP so it could be reimaged to the HD in minutes if Win7 doesn't work out.
