How to move WIN-7 64Bit from 128GB SSD to 256 GB SSD

I think I know how to do this but it's not my specialty. I have Acronis home plus. In order to move everything
from my 128GB SSD would I just use Acronis to backup the 128GB and then use an Acronis startup disk
to restore the backup\image to the bigger SSD?

What about programs that rely on "hardware" id for licensing?
Or would it be more feasible to just move only FSX to the bigger SSD.?
Wouldn't there still be problems for programs\addons such as aircraft.?
There is that pesky registry. If I remove FSX from my "C" drive I regain ~75GBs
of space. Right now I have 28GBs remaining.

    1) move all of my current "C" to the bigger SSD
    2) move only FSX to the bigger SSD
3 just reinstall FSX on the bigger SSD and,
re-license everything again.( not what I want to do )

What i am trying to avoid is reinstalling FSX
    I'ld appreciate any suggestions

Normally, I would use choice 1---move all of C to the new SSD.

But--I am not familiar with FSX and "programs that rely on hardware ID for licensing". Never heard of such a thing.

Are you positive that FSX would be aware that it is now on a new SSD after the image restoration?

I'd use Acronis to clone over the smaller SSD to the larger one using the boot disk.

    Hi ignatzatsonic,
I have a program "TSR Autobrake" I use it with FSX. It is used to calculate braking for the Boeing B-737.
I'm sure it uses hareware...to validate. I own\bought all of the programs that I use: There is a program from flight1 that sets the FSX path in the registry: I'm only concerned with program that install themselves into the FSX directory
itself. I would like to know if it is feasible to move FSX to the new SSD and continue using Drive-C for just the O.S.
And thank you for taking the time.

I guess I'll just use acronis to move the entire 128GB disk to the new 256GB disk. If you guys think of any pitfalls please let me know.

    Thanks again.

You might need to align the new SSD.

The Cloning procedure begins on page 40 of the True Image manual which is the same for retail version as for the WD/Seagate HD's free version used here: http://www.wdc.com/WDProducts/Librar.../acronisum.pdf

I'm not clear on your "hardware validation" concept, but....if you restore an image, the paths in the registry would remain the same. You'd have the same registry.

As far as I can see, the only reason not to keep both the OS and FSX on the new SSD would be because of a lack of space.
