Windows 7 English transfer to Spanish

I recently helped a friend/customer build a new PC, everything came out great, not a single problem so I was kinda proud of myself for it

The simple issue is that I install Win 7 64 bit in English and it turns out my friend/customer can't really use it or does not feel comfortable because of it... he didn't say and I didn't ask

Is there any way that I can do something to convert it to Spanish in some sort of easy way or I just have to face the Music, toss what I did and start all over again from the beginning and install the OS in Spanish from scratch?

Say it isn't so!

If it's Ultimate you can use the Spanish language pack via optional Updates.

Otherwise what I would do is find a Spanish installer for that version to clean reinstall. There are reports that keys are language-specific, but other real-world tests report that same key will work for a different language within a certain region. If not you'll need to provide a Spanish key.

If you bought Builder's OEM then call MS Customer Service to tell them you installed it on the wrong machine, which is the kind of legit excuse they are repeatedly reported to accept to allow moving retail OEM. In your case they may want you to wait until you move it, or will release the key for reuse if that's possible.

Thank, I will try the Language Pack first... even though, I think I did that already and it busted up the keyboard something fierce. If I remember correctly, I couldn't find a way to use the "@" so I had to revert back to English version... I will try it again though.

Hi there

When installing the Language packs on base languages that are different from the Base Windows install language -- such as Spanish on an English version you also need to change the INPUT keyboards and Locales in the Regionalisation options as well.

If you don't do that you can hose yourself up royally.

Incidentally note also that you can also apply OFFICE Interface Language packs as well if you want to --these are also Free -- you need Windows Pro / Ultimate or Enterprise for these to work however.

(regionalisation options are in the Control Panel -- I can't post screenshots at the moment as I'm on a test laptop running W8 developer edition which is only available in English at the moment).
