    C:
    DIR \*.dll /s /b > C:\regdll.bat (in a elevated command prompt)
    notepad C:\regdll.bat
    Replace C:\ with: C:\Windows\System32\Regsvr32.exe /s C:\
    and save the file.
type: C:\regdll.bat (still in command prompt)
ignore all errors. reboot and try to start explorer

Problem... we type "C:", it says "the system cannot find the drive specified" (and no, we didnt' change the drive letters)
Also, it prepares the desktop every time we login

first solve this problem. later the temporary profile problem
What is the prompt when entering an elevated command prompt?
    should be C:\windows\system32

    also do: DIR C:\
    DIR D:\
etc. are driveletters as expected? and check if c:\windows exists for example

I'm not really sure what you mean.
The command prompt file is definitely in C:/Windows/System32 though. I know that for sure.

It says that the system path cannot be specified when I do the DIR commands.

This is why we use free Partition Wizard bootable CD for thousands of often-complicated partitioning operations here without a single fail - it checks the file system as it works while the XPired-era tools don't.

Make sure WIn7 partition or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) is set to Active, then run Startup Repair repeatedly. It should automate Disk Check and SFC but if not run them manually from System Recovery Options Command Line: SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot and Disk Check

Why would you turn off System Restore which is your first best method to recover from self-imposed problems like this? Turn it back on and even apportion more Disk space so more points hang around longer.
