    How to re-install OS on a new HDD with recovery DVD?


    Desktop machie with Windows Vista Home Premium.

    The first thing I did after the purchase of the PC was burning DVD's of the recovery files provided by the manufacturer.

    A little bit of noice from the machine's original HDD is noticed recently. I want to replace this HDD by a new one. And install the OS from the recovery DVD's.

    Is it possible to do so?
    How if it is?

    Yes, this is what the disks are designed to do as opposed to the onboard Recovery Partition which is the most stable method to recover to same HD. Acer Support: Frequently Asked Questions list for Recovery media and Restoring a system to factory load

    You can also find a Win7 installation DVD for your version to clean reinstall without the factory bloatware and useless factory utiltiies which have better versions built into Win7 - a vastly superior install. Here's how: Reinstalling Windows 7
