after clean install win7 ultimate, previous programs still show up.

so i custom/clean installed windows 7 ultimate from usb, formatted through the windows installer, and deleted all pervious partitions. i then installed windows. windows created two partitiions one primary and one "for backup drivers" a total of 100mb.
for some reason though it still shows me all my previous programs? like microsoft office 2007, wich actually is disabling my office 2010.
what i want to do is totally clear the hard drive so that i really only have windows 7 ultimate on it. similiar i guess to task 29ing my old htc touch pro 2 :) any help is always appreciated thanks guys.

It sounds like you did not do a clean install if Office is still on C.

You can "totally clear" the drive by going into Diskpart application early in the Windows installation when you come to the language choice screen. Hit Shift F10 at that point.

The commands to clean and format a system with a single physical hard drive would be:


Type in the following commands one by one, followed by the Enter key to create a partition (text in brackets are comments only):

Diskpart

list disk (to show the ID number of the hard disk to partition, normally Disk 0)

select disk 0 (change 0 to another number if applicable)

clean

create partition primary size=80000 (creates a partition with 80 GB space; to use the entire disk as one partition, omit the “size=value” parameter switch; use a similar command to create more partitions if needed or create in Windows 7 after installation)

select partition 1

active

format fs=ntfs quick

exit

Type exit at command prompt to close Command Prompt window.

Continue Windows 7 installation as usual. Remember to just highlight and select the partition just created when you come to the partition screen.

wow thanks, will try. so to clarify,
the f10 option should completely wipe the hard drive, eliminating any chance of anything being there afterwards?
the formating and partition creating part,? where do i put these commands in? do i open a shell?
also if the f10 thing works is there any reason to do the formatting thing?

No.

Shift F10 at the language screen would drop you into a command prompt.

From there you enter the commands mentioned--diskpart, then list disk, etc.

It's the "clean" command that does the wiping.

The formatting is done by the "format fs=ntfs quick" command.
