Installing Vista after Windows Seven for Dual Boot

Have a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop, and just got a full install Vista Home Basic CD. Would like to keep W7, and also install Vista for a dual boot on the same hard drive.

    Found the following guidance:
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and Vista

The following is noted, though: Whatever OS you install last will be the OS listed first in the Windows Boot Manager screen at startup.

Is there a way to have Windows 7 listed first?

    Thanks for your help!

You can try installing EasyBCD 2.02 to Win7, delete the Vista entry, then Add it again. EasyBCD 2.0.2 - NeoSmart Technologies. But no guarantees.

It doesn't really matter if you set the default OS at Computer>Properties>Advanced>Startup, with about a 5 second timeout since you'll probably already know if you want to boot the other OS and be ready.

    Hello Canardblanc,

In addition, this tutorial can help show you a few different options for how to change the default OS to run at startup.

Default Operating System - Change Default Boot OS

    Hope this helps,
