HELP! Window 7 will not install on my system!

This makes no sense to me. I've been trying for the past 48 hours to install Windows 7 on my main PC and it won't go! I'm using the x64 version straight from MSDN and here's what happens...

It loads up and I see the glowing Windows logo. Then it hangs at this screen for literally 4 minutes....

Then we get to this screen...

And then this one....so far so good

And then this screen....which sits there for another 4 minutes

    And then the license...

I select custom since I want to install it on a blank hard drive....

There's only 1 connected via SATA, I select it...

Here's the part where it screws up, it says copying Windows files but it doesn't copy anything! It immediately checks and shows 100% complete the second after this screen pops up. Then later it tries to expand the Windows files and because nothing was ever copied over it errors out and there's nothing else I can do.

It's the same problem this guy here - Windows 7 7057 x64 installation file copying error. - had. I've tried this install on a DVD+R DL and a DVD-R and the same thing happens with both.

Hello SBrooks, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The "Copying Windows Files" is for copying a previous installation to the C:\Windows.old folder if you had a previous OS installed on the selected drive or partition that you are installing Windows 7 on. If not, then it will do like you experienced and not take but a second.

Try clicking on Drive options (advanced) and delete that drive so it shows as unallocated, then install Windows 7 to see if it will install afterwards.

What is the exact error message that you get?

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

Thanks for the welcome. Nice forum you have here. By the time you approved this thread a friend of mine suggested to delete my partition and have Windows take care of this for me. It created a 100MB partition and now it's installing fine.

    Same problem here

I do have the same problem here!!! The error message is 0x80070017. The thing is: i've already installed the win seven in this HD today! I just got a new HD and tryied to install the OS earlier... As this error ocouried I've tryied to install it from my older win seven (@ my older HD) and everything occouried fine. Then I formatted the older HD cuz I don't need 2 identical OS... But my new HD didnt boot (cuz the boot was from the older HD). Só I've formatted my new HD hoping that I could install the seven sweet and clean. But now the only thing that installs it's Linux. Help please!!!

I just solved the problem... I've re-downloaded the Seven (x64) again and burned it @ x2 in a DVD-RW and everything worked fine.

The thing is: I've installed with the older DVD the same day!!! I can't understand why it stopped running...

I'll update my stats as soon as I can!

    Thanks for the help
