Make sure the Win7 HD remains set first to boot in BIOS setup.
Then any other HD which is connected can be used for storage.
IDE drives require a large ribbon cable, not the smaller SATA cable:
Do you have IDE Molex four-pin power cable connectors available from the Power Supply Unit now:
It should have these since your mobo has IDE port.
i think i have only one ide port on mobo!
would it be better for me to get the ide to sata converter conector?
YES, but make sure the HD Drive is MASTER & DVD Drive is slave.hi thanks for you help !one more thing i have the molex leads spare yes,do i plug the ide in the ide hdd and then into the dvd drive?is this the same cable i use
To enter BIOS setup to check Boot Order, look for key given on first boot screen. If necessary google your mobo model Manual.
To correctly set the jumper pins to Master or slave on the HD and DVD drive, I google the HD model + set jumper to see an illustration.
