Cannot install windows xp to my computer.

I want to install a copy of Windows XP Professional on my HP DV7. My computer originally came with the windows 7 OS, i want to dual boot these OS'. When i try to install windows xp i get a blue screen error that says something along the lines of this: "In order to prevent damage to your computer windows has closed, please check that your computer has no viruses and all hardware is working correctly and try again".
So i tried to install it through windows 7, then i got this error:

    "Description:
Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be recovered.

This appeared in a window that was titled, "Windows compatibility".
I already have my drive partitioned, so i wouldnt have to delete windows 7.
I tried to continue though, but there was no way to continue.
Anyone have an idea of what i need to do?

    You need SATA-Drivers
    Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lPj998GXXo
or you can go into the bios and switch (drive mode from ACHI to IDE)

First check for all the Win XP drivers for your hardware.
You can check your HP/compaq PC here:
General XP Downgrade Guide for HP Laptops - HP Support Forum
NOTE: Please read this thread fully.

If your Win XP CD, does not support your Sata Controller, you will need to load drivers to uses at F6.
Load Sata Controller drivers with a floppy disk is the best way.
SATA Drivers - Load in Windows XP Setup on Dual Boot
    OR
SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

Go into the bios and change drive mode (or something like that) from 'ACHI' to 'IDE'
