It appears Atheros is your wireless. Broadcom is likely your Ethernet.
Do you mainly use wireless or ethernet cable?
Ethernet is normally always provided by installer.
Are you sure you don't have either or both already installed in Device Manager? Do they show that they need a driver with an ! mark?
You may only need to connect to your network. Ethernet often starts up connected after install.
Hi. Sometimes i connect my cable modem to my desktop so i'm wired. But at this moment, i put my wireless router back on so i could go on the laptop.
Do you want me to unplug my router now and connect my internet wired ? Is that what you mean?
Yes, it's likely you'd already be online had you been plugged into Ethernet.
Are there applications you want from the Applications disk? A lot of them are bloatware so if you don't rely on those programs I would hold off installing them until you need one.
Same with the drivers, use the ones given by optional Updates and only import those missing in Device manager.
There are some hotfixes and other downloads which help enable drivers to run better but I'd wait to see how performance pans out first while studying them to first realize exactly what they are for.
Yes they both have that Yellow Exclamation Point. I have those 2 exclamation point everytime i try to reinstall windows and only way to fix this was install the driver cd from dell..
Yes plug in the wire as it's likely you'd already be online since the installer delivers ethernet driver 90% of the time.
The drivers disk is just an outdated verson of the drivers posted online, with some applications which I'd only install if you rely on them. You can always add any later.
Greg, i basically install every program from that application CD so it would make my computer work. I have no clue what im installing. I just extract every program. Of course i rather not download and extract bloatware but i have no idea of the programs in the cd, so i just do every single one.
Why not only import that programs that you rely upon now? You can always add others later. All I ever want is Works, for example.
It defeats the purpose of a clean reinstall to replace all the bloatware. You might as well run Factory Recovery.
Okay i connected my desktop wired with my cable modem and internet doesn't work.
