Sony Vaio VPCEB25FG can't support 2.5'inch hitachi 500GB H.D.D ?

Recently i have replace a hitachi 2.5' inch 500GB hard disk for this Sony Vaio VPCEB25FG i have tried to install a fresh OS window 7 home premium 64bit but it said's that the hardware is not supported and therefore i have ask around and this issue i have to refer back to sony to flash the bios ?

Does anyone know is there any other way to solve this issue other then refer to Sony services centre or should i take the risk and tried to flash the bios as i know there is a risk in flashing the bios my ownself ?

Hello TechCrew and welcome to Seven Forums.

When a system does not detect a drive, it's often caused by one of two problems: The hard drive isn't properly connected to the computer, or you have not yet installed the drivers for the hard drive. Windows 7 has a huge driver data base so it should detect the new Hitachi hard drive. Even Hitachi says no additional drivers should be needed.

Hitachi also says if your system is requesting drivers you may need current versions of your controller or motherboard drivers. To obtain the most current controller or motherboard driver, contact the manufacturer. That should be at the Sony eSupport website for your region.

Is the hard drive detected in BIOS setup?

Reset the BIOS to defaults.

Set the SATA controller to AHCI and try install again.

Post back any error message verbatim.

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself?

Tried but no option to change to ACHI

I have tried to go to the bios but there is no setting to change to ACHI .

It detects the hard drive but the problem is after installing the the Window 7 home premium its say's that the hardware is not compilable .

Did you reset the BIOS to defaults?

Are there no settings at all where the HD is registered in BIOS?

What is the exact error message verbatim? What step during install does it appear: Clean Install Windows 7

Does your BIOS have EFI? Look at your model's specs and at the listings in BIOS.
