cant login to XP after curropt system32 issue

hi, i need some help with windows xp please.

i got this message when booting up the comp,
"Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"

so i followed a guide to fix the issue, this guide,How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting
and got my hands on a copy of XP home edtion as dell dont give a copy when u buy off them,

anyway, in that guide i got all of step one done using the xp cd and accessing the recovery console, and copying the files listed in the guide.
after that was done the comp boots up normally to the log-in screen, only thing is the 2 accounts that were there, now arent, and only an administrator log-in shows up, and iv tryed every password i can think of but cant get in,
tryed leaving it blank, tryed "admin" "administrator" "0000" "user" "user1", and cant get in,

iv googled and found one identical forum post on the net with this exact same issue, but there was only one reply in the forum thread that didnt help the guy.

    anyone have any ideas ?

Rescue any files now that you can't afford to lose: Paragon rescue disk; change drive letter; recover data

Then boot into the XP CD to run an XP Repair Install .
