Is it possible to transfer the files/settings from my PC to my laptop?

    Hey.

I was wondering if it was possible to transfer the files/settings from my PC to my laptop, i.e. I would basically like to copy the exact profile I have on my PC to my laptop.

My PC is HP running Windows Home Premium 32bit and my laptop is Dell running Windows Home Premium 64bit.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

I would drag the User folder contents to external and then import them by opening the folder, on Organize tab Select All, then drag the group to the corresponding User folder on target machine.

This avoids importing user settings (hidden AppData) files which can be a corruption path. Best to start new with fresh settings.

Some use Windows Easy Transfer but I would not mess with it as it's cumbersome and can fail. Much easier to just click and drag.

If you have the same version and want to apply a backup image to the target machine, you'd need to boot Paragon Adaptive restore CD to adjust it to the new hardware. I'd use the Acronis premium image program which comes free with any WD or Seagate HD in the mix, or free Macrium - Image your system.

You can use Windows Easy Transfer:
