Clean install of Windows 7 32bit. Multiple problems occuring.
Hey guys, I recently backed up my computer on a external and wanted to do a clean windows 7 install. Of course, several problems have arose and I don't know what to do anymore.
I did the standard clean install procedures. Set BIOS to load CD and started the windows 7 disk (burned) and deleted all partitions. First thing I noticed was there was no "Install now" screen with the ability to repair start up. But anyway, I started the install and this is where problems began. As it began the installation it went as normal but then when it restarted it went to a chkdsk. I let that run for hours and it finally completed with not really saying anything. Then, I was able to restart it and begin where it was supposed to but then it would randomly restart before it got back to the installation part. So then I restarted the install and deleted the System Reserved partition that the halfway win7 install created and I was able to continue on the installation but then as the installation came to the end it got an error with "Setup.exe" as the heading. I can't exactly remember what it said but it said certain files could not be found.
So I redid everything and now it still keeps restarting after the first restart when it goes to load the second installation phase. So, in this I decided to get my Vista Home premium disk that my computer came with and decided to try getting that to work. At first, it would not read the disk. It would read the windows 7 disk fine. I checked the disk in another computer and it worked fine. I kept trying and was then able to get it to read and start the vista installation. I selected install and deleted all partitions that windows 7 had created and started the install. Now, THIS starts another problem everything loads fine untill it begins installing updates. I then get this message:
"Windows could not update registry data in the installation"
I've redone the setup twice and still get this message. I looked it up and some suggest disabling the updates for the setup but I do not remember seeing the option anywhere.
I will also note a persistent "clicking" noise from the computer during HD intensive things. This clicking did not begin until the first chkdsk during the initial windows 7 install. Everything always worked splendid until then. Any help is appreciated.
