Hp mini 100-3000 factory restore

on which I did a factory restore which went wrong by showing err1err2. I went past this stage and did some formating. Presently I have two partitions with content. They are C:HP_RECOVERY and a Boot (X partition. When I use a Windows 7 DVD to boot and do repairs the Windows Recovery Environment shows that there is a Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium (recovered) on partition D. However, partition D: is empty. Why is this happening. I am hoping that I will be able to use the C:HP_RECOVERY partition to do a factory restore. Note: Upon booting WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER SHOWS \WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

Did the Notebook come with Vista installed?

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

It came with Windows Starter. I did not make OEM disks. My BCDDEIT:

Windows Boot Loader

identifier {default}
device partition=D:
path \WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe
description Windows Vista <TM> Home Premium <recovered>
locale en-US
osdevice partition=D:
systemroot \WINDOWS
resumeobject {441cd05a-3cdc-11e1-84d9-806e6f6e6963}

The D: drive/partition is empty. Why is BCDEDIT showing this. I have two partitions with content C:HP_RECOVERY and Boot (X. I maintain that there is absolutely nothing on partition D. What can I do to rectify this.

Try running Factory Recovery from boot: HP Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

If this fails, mark the Recovery partition Active to see if it will boot itself.

If not your options are to order Factory Recovery disks from HP linked by Theog above, or find a Win7 installation DVD to reinstall the licensed version on your COA sticker. Reinstalling Windows 7
