The outcome of the computer problem, is that the supplier has replaced it, stating that they considered the original faulty.
Thing is, that when setting up the new one, the same question box popped up asking whether I wanted to partition the hard drive. This time I left the box alone, and ended up with one 400+GB partition.
Maybe, if my friend needs another partition I will see what I can do to add one, otherwise will leave alone whilst all is working.
It's best to wait until the need arises before adding partitions if you have no scheme in mind.
Storage of files, backup, and perhaps User folders is best achieved on another HD anyway, so that you are backed up against primary HD failure.
Thanks for your reply. Yes I will leave it as is. The person using it has not had a computer before, and being in her mid 60's only really wants it because she thinks she is missing out on something. So it will be the odd email and holiday booking I should think. No need for extra partitions.
