does directx 10 stay on your computer...
when you install windows 7 customly? or do you have to redownload it? microsoft won't let you download it if you're not a genuine user, so i want to keep it, if possible, so i can use aero.

also, do i need to back-up drivers or just download new ones via windows update?
DirextX11 is available natively in windows 7. We dont have to re-download it.
Just download new drivers from windows update no need to backup. When those updates are installed a system restore flag is created. So if you have any problems with the new drivers then you can easily perform system restore to fix those....

ok, thanks man. it's amazing how microsoft already knows your hardware and stuff inside your computer to give you drivers. oh, and one more thing, does the windows.old folder appear in a custom installation? and if it does, is there any reason to back up files and such?
Windows 7 actually comes with DirectX 11 which is a superset of DirectX 10.1
cool! so that means that im getting software that hasn't even been released to the general public yet!
it's absolutely inside of win7
yeah, but i think microsoft is still working on the public release, you know, to download from their site.
