Unable to install Windows 7

Hello,

My name is Conner and I recently decided to upgrade to windows 7 Professional 32 bit. Before I could do so however, I was interrupted by an error telling me that "Autorun could not be read because it is "Corrupted?". I run on Windows XP Professional x64. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 530;

4 Gigs of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
intel core 2 quad Q6600 2.4 ghz

Please help.

Conner

For the Windows7 installation that would be irrelevant. You should make a clean installation anyhow. Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Set the BIOS boot order to boot from the CD/DVD reader, have the installation disc in the reader and follow the tutorial.

Hi Conner -

Are you booting the DVD to install? How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

Where did you get Windows 7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? If so burn another using ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Then follow these steps: Clean Install Windows 7

Glad to hear it, Conner.

Which step(s) helped your problem? Booting the DVD or burning another?

I have not tried yet, But I think it's that I have xp pro x64 installed when I try. I'll have to get a upgrade version instead.

Having XP installed should not affect whether it will install unless you're failing to boot the installer, whether you use Full or Upgrade version.

But since you have XP on the HD it will allow Upgrade version if you boot that, and will save a lot of money as well.

Where did you get Windows 7? Did you burn the DVD yourself?

ok guys need help here.

I did as you told me to and tryed booting from the disk instead of double clicking the drive but when I booted from the disk all I got was a black screen. Is there something I am doing wrong?
I really want to get windows 7 running on my computer

Thank You,

Conner
