Advice with Z68 and Smart Response Technology

Is it possible for me to install a new Z68 mobo. Use my existing HDD without reinstalling Windows, add a SSD and setup Smart Response Technology.

I would like to avoid reinstalling Windows if possible so that I may postpone purchasing another HDD for backup.

    Hello Marshall,

Unfortunately since it's a different motherboard than what was used to originally install Windows with on that HDD, you'll most likely have to reinstall.

All you can do is try it. I know for me when I changed my mobo and cpu everything worked like it was supposed to. I know there is some legality issues with this but since it was bought and paid for by me for me I don't see any problems with it.

Question number 2. Can I buy a larger SSD (forgetting the SRT), Install windows on the SSD and use the HDD?

    Marshall,

Sure, as long as it's not a OEM copy of Windows 7, and you format the HDD afterwards to remove Windows on it. :)
