Fill in your specs so we can help you further.

Please try removing the disk and reinserting it, refreshing the drives to see if it will proceed.

If not post back the verbatim text of the error message, or a camera snap.

I've had this error on a Compaq laptop before. Have you tried changing from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS ?

SATA controller. Try it first in AHCI mode, then if it fails change to IDE mode to try it that way.

The controller setting can affect whether Windows 7 will install. It is one in a checklist of steps we give.

I have given you the initial steps and am waiting for your reply. This is an interactive forum where we give you steps based on what you reply.
