Ssd & ahci

I don't understand AHCE but was told to make sure when I put in my SSD to put it in AHCE. I don't even know what that is but I think you set it up in the BIOS. However my drive is fast. I can bring up Word or Excel in less than one second so maybe this is something I shouldn't worry about?

I noticed no real world difference between AHCI and IDE mode with my SSD. The only area where you could see a difference was on a benchmark.

I bought a brand new SSD, installed it in Windows 7, and there is no option in my BIOS for the SATA controller (to switch between IDE and AHCI Mode). How do I determine whether my computer's sata controller is using IDE or AHCI? I want to make sure that my AHCI controller is enabled and not IDE...

Hi to all, How can I set the Hard drive (operation) to AHCI in Windows and BIOS? Working in BIOS is simpler because it has a limited number of menus.

Ahci
Since I moved W7 to a drive that has AHCI enabled in the BIOS, but the image that I used of W7 was on a regular SATA drive previously, I didn't see the need to enable it in the OS. However, when I now transfer files from the AHCI drive (OS) to a regular SATA, I'm getting considerably lower...

No AHCI
On my work PC I've changed the registry setting and rebooted but it didn't install the drivers. In Device Manager there's no AHCI. Can't boot if BIOS is set to AHCI because there is none according to Windows. I've tried everything I can think of. Any ideas?
